The Hindu Marriage Act (HMA) of 1955 forbids marriages between specific groups of people. Which are: Relationships that violate Hindu law’s ban on marriage are known as sapinda ties. Counting how many ascendants a man and a woman share allows us to calculate their sapinda connection. They are termed sapindas and cannot get married if they share one or more ascendants through the third generation. Agnates are people who are linked to one another through a male line. It is illegal to marry an agnate. Female line ancestors: It is unlawful for female line ancestors to marry one another. Adopted relationships: It is illegal for an adopted individual to marry either their adoptive parents, siblings, or grandparents.
